According to a CHALCO bulletin on November 3rd, its affiliated company, Shandong Huayu Aluminum-Electricity Company, will authorize Huasheng Jiangquan Group to build a refined aluminum plant with a capacity of 100kt/yr in Linyi city, Shandong province.  Sources report the project cost will be RMB 420 million, CHALCO’s primary aluminum capacity will expby 100kt/yr upon completion.   

According to CBI sources, the project wasiginally scheduled to come online in September 2008, but the  project was delayed due to the Beijing Olympics, as well financial losses at the company.  Construction is tentatively scheduled fcompletion in late 2008, according to the CHALCO bulletin, but according to CBI sources, the date of operation is indefinitely delayed due to market conditions.
